Need for cessation clinics in India

It has been rightly pointed out in the world conference on tobacco or health which is being held in mumbai, that it is high time India has an adequate set of cessation clinics in place to help smokers get rid of their smoking habits.
Do you think as these clinics come up, a rigorous anti-tobacco campaign needs to begin simultaneously so that people feel the need to get rid of this habit and are easliy persuaded to come to these clinics for the same.what do you think?

The bigger picture in India is that of smokeless tobacco. Cessation clinics need to have infrastructure to address this and not just smoking.

anti-tobacco campaigns globally have made an impact. More than cessation clinics I think the law needs to be implemented. Pictorial warnings issue is an example of how slow we are at getting laws implemented

Dear Voice, I am sad to see that this blog has gathered so little content.
It is a troubling sign of the lack of interest of tobacco control advocates for the web2.0 internet tools.
Such an information deficit is dangerous but nobody seems to care.
Ignoring the internet at this level is -for me- really amazing but that is the reality today in the tobacco control field: 0 involvement.

It'll be progress if the cessation clinic for smokers is set up. Undoubtedly, smoking refers to multi- causal factors, including physical impair, e.g., reward pathway in brain. So, cessation clinic will significantly contribute to the comprehensive TC program.

Friends, there is abundant evidence of the need for smoking cessation programs based on best practices, of which there are several examples at the global level. We know that smoking is a multifactorial problem and as such must be addressed, with many strategies. Furthermore it is known that smoking cessation is one of the most cost-effective public health strategies and one that saves more lives and years of life in the general population.

Some steps taken by government are praiseworthy like to ban smoke at public places, make the danger picture on the wrapper of cigarette and cigar as well as tax increase on products related to tobacco.with such type of steps we can restrain our youth to Buy Cigars and cigarette. This will be our first step to make healthy country.
